Term 4 Week 8 2023
From your Principal
Dear Families,
Catherine McAuley, who began the Sisters of Mercy Order, once said – “The simplest and most practical lesson I know, is to resolve to be good today, but better tomorrow.”

Composite Classes
Some year groups will be taught as combined classes next year. I want to assure the community that all students will be provided with an education that meets their needs regardless of whether they are in a straight or composite class. All classes are made up of children with a range of abilities. Students are taught the Australian curriculum, skills and general capabilities regardless of the make-up of the class. All teachers have both the training and ability to teach students in a composite class setting.

Year 4 News
Year 4 have been finalising their last assessment pieces over the last week. Their major focus has been a Power Point presentation on an Australian explorer. A timeline was pinned across the back of the room and students also made a poster to attach to the timeline showing when their explorer made their journeys. We all learnt so much about our Australian history. Students have also enjoyed completing many Mathletics activities online recently. It has been wonderful to see how their results in Mathematics has improved. This has been a very busy term and Year 4 students should be proud of their growth in their learning. I think that they are well and truly ready to tackle Year 5.

McAuley was the eventual house winner, finishing on 522 points, Mort was second on 383 points and Concannon finished third on 322 points. Our age champions were:
8 years girl and boy – CC Larkin and Ethan Reid
9 years girl and boy – Bonnie Choice and Jensen Spaul
10 years girl and boy – Pippa Kann / Inara Watts and Oliver Chorley
11 years girl and boy – Ella Larkin and Archer Breeze
12 years girl and boy – Libby Mason-Dougall and Archie Adamson
A huge thank you to my fellow staff members, who without their support, the carnival wouldn’t have been such a success! I want to thank the parents that helped out yesterday with timekeeping too – you are amazing!
The Holy Name community have been so welcoming and supportive, my job is so much easier and rewarding!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support with sport this year, being my first full year teaching PE at Holy Name.
