Week 4 Newsletter Update
Dear Families,
As we enter Week 4, I want to thank you for your continued support in fostering a school environment where our students strive for excellence and live out our Mercy values of compassion, hospitality, justice, and excellence.
Uniform and Grooming Reminders
A reminder to all families to please support your child in meeting our uniform expectations. These standards help promote pride in our school and a sense of belonging. Please ensure:
- Hair is neat, tidy, and tied back if it is longer than shoulder length.
- Uniforms are worn correctly and in full each day, including appropriate footwear and hats.
- Jewellery and accessories are minimal and in line with school guidelines.
Thank you for your partnership in maintaining these standards.
PEN Forum – Supporting Transitions to the New School Year
We warmly invite parents and caregivers to attend our upcoming Parent Engagement Network (PEN) Forum, which will focus on supporting students as they transition into the new school year. This session will offer practical strategies, insights from staff, and opportunities for discussion around academic, social, and emotional readiness.
🗓 Date: Tuesday 4 November
🕔 Time: 5:30pm
📍 Location: Holy Name School Library
Your input is valued, and we look forward to your participation.
Leadership Forum – Principal Gathering
Next week, I will be away attending the Leadership Forum with fellow principals from across Toowoomba Catholic Schools (TCS). This forum is a valuable opportunity for us to collaborate, reflect, and strengthen our leadership practices in service of our school communities.
During my absence, our leadership team will continue to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and support for students and staff.
School Cookbook Reminder
Don’t forget to submit your favourite family recipes for our school cookbook! This is a wonderful way to celebrate our community’s diversity and hospitality. Whether it’s a cherished dessert, a go-to dinner, or a special holiday dish, we’d love to include it.
Please send your recipes to the link provided or email through to the office.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far — we can’t wait to see the finished product!
God bless
Lisa Cavanagh

As we settle into Term Four, we are reminded of the richness of our Catholic tradition and the opportunities it offers to reflect, remember, and grow in faith.
This week, we mark two significant days in the Church calendar:
All Saints Day – November 1
All Saints Day is a joyful celebration of all the saints—those known and unknown—who have lived lives of holiness and love. It reminds us that we are all called to be saints in our own way, by living with kindness, courage, and faith. In classrooms and prayer spaces, students have been learning about saints who inspire us, such as St Mary MacKillop and St Francis of Assisi. Their stories encourage us to live with purpose and compassion.
All Souls Day – November 2
All Souls Day is a more reflective occasion, where we remember and pray for those who have died. It is a time to honour loved ones who have gone before us and to trust in God’s promise of eternal life.
These days offer a beautiful balance of celebration and remembrance, helping our students understand the cycle of life, the importance of faith, and the comfort of community. We will mark both of these significant days with a Prayer Celebration on Thursday 30 October at 8.45am in the MEAC.
As we journey through Term Four, may we continue to walk together in hope, inspired by the saints and comforted by the love of God.
Blessings,
Kerri-Ann Manthey

Prayer
Loving God,
We thank You for the saints—those known and unknown—who have shown us how to live with faith, courage, and love.
May their example inspire us to be kind, brave, and generous in our own lives.
We also remember with love those who have gone before us.
May they rest in Your peace, and may we feel comforted knowing they are held in Your eternal embrace.
Help us to live each day with hope, knowing that we are part of Your great story of love.
Guide our hearts, strengthen our spirits, and walk with us always.
Amen.

Prep 2026 Parent Information Evening
It was wonderful to welcome the Prep 2026 families to our recent Information Evening held in the Prep classroom at Holy Name. Parents and carers had the opportunity to explore the learning environment, meet our dedicated staff, and gain valuable insights into the journey their children will embark on next year. It was great to see so new faces and begin building the strong partnerships that will support our newest learners as they take their first steps into school life.

Cookbook
The Parent Engagement Network (PEN) warmly invites all Holy Name families and members of our school community to contribute a recipe to our special Holy Name cookbook, due for release to coincide with Harmony Day in March 2026.
We are seeking support from Holy Name families who would like to sponsor a page to include a recipe and advertise their business. Please contact the school office if you would like to express interest in sponsoring a page.
We would love for every Holy Name family to have at least one favourite recipe published. This is a chance to share the rich cultural heritage, family traditions, and unique flavours that make our community so vibrant. Whether it’s a dish that reflects your cultural background, a recipe that has been passed down through generations, or a modern family favourite, we want to celebrate the diversity of our school through the food we love.
This venture is not only a celebration of the diverse flavours of our community, but also a fundraiser for our (PEN) to help support the development of a ‘Bush to Basket’ garden for our Holy Name students and community.
Recipes can be uploaded via the following link:
https://cc.recipes/holyname-ps
Alternatively, you can request a paper form from the school office to record and submit your recipe.
Contributors' are encouraged to upload/include one or more images to accompany your recipe — whether it’s the finished dish, the cooking process, or your family enjoying it together. When you submit your recipe, you will be emailed a link that enables you to go back in to edit your recipe and/or add images up until the closing date. Your personal email will not be published.
Please submit your recipes as soon as possible during Term 4. Submissions close on Wednesday 19th November 2025 (Week 7).
Contributors’ family names will be proudly included in the cookbook, and families will have the opportunity to order a copy of the cookbook early next year. Current Year 6 families will have the opportunity to order the book in advance, and it will be forwarded to you in 2026.
Summer Uniform Reminder
